Addicted to Bass is bang-up full of the biggest speaker crunching dubstep, bassline electro, drum ‘n bass and moombahton.

Set to reprogram the music world, Perth’s own Bombs Away are Ministry of Sound’s newest party-starters. The boys team up with bass music aficionado, Kid Kenobi, to filter the lowest of frequencies, dragged out breakdowns and epic drops into a sub-sonic slice of electronic music madness.

Bombs Away held down five places on the ARIA chart concurrently along with Top 10’s on iTunes, DJdownload, DJtunes and Beatport charts. Their track, Swagger, rocked national and Ministry of Sound radio and was so huge they named their US tour after it. Bombs Away are naughty – the only thing with a bigger reputation than their behaviour is their music and with releases like Big Booty Bitches and SUPERSOAKER, it’s easy to see why.facebook.com/bombsawymusictwitter.com/bombsawaymusic soundcloud.com/bombs-away

The only thing Perth is more addicted to than bass music is Kid Kenobi. He satisfies the crowd over and over again, dropping bad-ass basslines like a mofo. He is the champion of breaking genres and everything, absolutely everything, The Kid touches turns to gold.

Addicted to Bass will leave you shaking, sweating and craving more.

Get down to the Cottesloe Hotel on SATURDAY 12TH MAY to check out the insane collection of hand-painted longboard decks, top quality surfboards, unique clothing label, canvas art, spray paint artwork, and hand-painted sneakers.

Plus everything is for sale on the night but once it’s gone, it’s gone!

Hans and Troy have just recently started HandBrake Boards as a unique mixture of surfing and skating lifestyle and art. Hans is the house artist and produces everything from huge spray paint pieces to incredibly intricate “doodles” on his clothing and boards. His style is inspired by street and pop art and is bold and colourful, super detailed, and a little bit cheeky.

This event is gonna be awesomesauce with the Monster Energy crew coming down to give you guys all free stuff, Odyssey 20/20 sunglasses have given us a bunch of amazing sunnies to give to you guys, and our kickarse DJ shredding the decks is gonna be BOSTON SWITCH!

The event is free – we’re not charging a door price – but we will be accepting donations at the entrance for the Disabled Surfers Association (DSA) so bring some coins!!!

Now Hans’ works have appeared in several ensemble exhibitions over the past few years and every single time he has sold out!

So if you’re into skating, surfing, wearing clothes (let’s hope so), or a bit of street-inspired art then you have to get to the Cott and check out this launch.

@ The Court Hotel Courtyard
6th May 2012

It was time for a garden party and what a garden party it was!

The crew from Habitat had transformed the courtyard of The Court Hotel in East Perth into a majestic
outdoor setting with beautiful LED light trees and blowup glowing stars hanging from the constructed marquee which had been
erected for the off chance of the light shower which seemed to shadow the day with a hazy white sheet of clouds across the sky
playing in peoples minds that we were all in for a soaking or 3 but to our amazement the rain held off all afternoon for what we thought
was sure to be a wet Sunday afternoon!

Flex from Habitat started us off with some melodic tech house tunes to ease the late afternoon crowd into the doors and with
a late afternoon pizza from The Courts Pizzeria and a cider in hand we knew it was going to be a brilliant evening.

As the crowd started to get heavier and the courtyard started to look more like a dance tent from a festival Alex N!ggemann from
Germany & George Fitzgerald from the UK jumped on the decks and began filling the tent with deeper more in touch deep tech house
with a good back to back duo from the boys. They played a good 3 & 1/2 hour set b2b until it was time for the almighty UK producer and
mix master philanthropist that was James Zabiela!

The crowd roared and the courtyard was packed to the house of punters eager to catch a glimpse of the ‘god of the decks’ with cameras,
phones and plenty of focused eyes and ears to the stage as he began churning out masterful mixed sounds of deep house, techno and carnival style
tech to an adored group of willing fans in the crowd!

He had a platter of equipment with him in the booth from Akai samplers, laptops, Trigger Finger boxes and even his iconic iPad with samples on it
which he would raise to the sky to show to the crowd what he was all about.

As he mixed his way through breaks, techno, house, nu disco and even drum & bass we were all awe struck as to the unbelievable talent and skill he
possessed behind the table of equipment and boy did it look like a breeze for him! The constant smiling and thanking the crowd for the overwhelming
support from every mix and track he performed from him we all knew he defiantly got the sense that Perth defiantly had a soft spot for Mr Zabiela!

His 2 & 1/2 hour set was jam packed with vicious vibes of almost every dance genre on the market and samples that were as far fetched as anyone thought
possible with the kind of intensity he performed with it is no wonder the man from Southampton had the following he has cause my oh my what a set it was!

The crew from Habitat defiantly know how to put on an afternoon party and with this being the first for them this year lets hope there are plenty more
to come as this was defiantly a winner in all the punters eyes oh and ears!

Doors open 10pm

Some bands are dance and some are indie, some are pop and some are punk, but very few cover all bases with equal aptitude and pizzazz. Digitalism certainly do.

The duo are often compared to Daft Punk by lazy reviewers. Sure; it’s true both are known for throwing down exceptional beats – but the similarity ends there. Digitalism are German, not French and human not robots. Julian Casablancas became so fond of ‘em he left The Strokes long enough to co-write song ‘Forrest Gump’ for their stunning new album I Love You Dude; the follow-up to 2007′s instantly danceable Idealism LP and the ballistic ‘Blitz EP’.

Making rapturous appearances at festivals (Parklife, Coachella) and venues worldwide, Digitalism will be throwing down their distorted baselines and thumping rhythms at Villa.
Get ready to rave it up!

Joining Digitalism is fellow 2011-Parklifer, Adrian Lux. His tune ‘Teenage Crime’ came in at number six in 2010′s Triple J Hottest 100, suggesting more than a few people are familiar with his sweet, high-pitched vocals over a banging beat. Now we’re all humming the same hook, you need to know is Adrian Lux is Swedish (instant cool), he recently remixed Roxette (long live the 90s revival!) and more recently Britney Spears, Natalia Kills, Roger Sanchez, the TRON soundtrack, Miami Horror, PNAU and more.
D-Lux.

In arrangement with Primary International Talent.

Supported by: Makitan, Ace Basik, Kill Dyl
Tickets: $35+BF on sale 15 March 2012.

Available at Moshtix , 1300 GET TIX (438 849), Moshtix outlets and the Boomtick iPhone App.

Martin Reeves. Krafty. Kraftos. The Kutmaster. Face it – Krafty Kuts is one of the world’s greatest DJs, and he’s got a brand new album. Let’s Ride!

Awarded in the UK. Acclaimed in the US. Absolutely worshipped in Australia (especially his Aussie home, Perth)…wherever he plays, he plays hard, brings the party broken beat and causes a commotion. Inspired by hip hop and electro, he stepped behind the decks of a DJ competition moons ago and has owned the wheels of steel ever since. Proof? Krafty Kuts has been voted Best DJ in the Breakspoll Awards five times (2004, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2011).

A Finger Lickin’ alumni, Krafty Kuts released Tricka Technology with A Skillz (HUGE!) then dropped his debut solo album Freakshow in 2006. It was crowned Best Album by Breakspoll, and the track ‘Bass Phenomenon’ was awarded Single of the Year by DJ Magazine. He followed Freakshow with a FabricLive compilation, an installment in the Back to Mine series, Krafty Kuts Re-Rubs in 2009 (winner, Best Compilation at Breakspoll 2010) and Against the Grain Classics (Best Album, Breakspoll 2011).

Everything he touches turns to party gold broken beat bullion – remixes, albums, compilations, collaborations, singles, the Belvoir Amphitheatre (multiple Breakfest appearances), and, of course, Villa in 2010. His newest album, Let’s Ride, is as anticipated as his return to Villa.
Let’s go, let’s ride!

Stirling Street Perth

Ian Carey. Ian Carey Project. Illicit Funk. Saturated Soul. Soul Providers. However you’ve best known Ian Carey over the last almost twenty years; there’s no denying it – Ian Carey is a legend in the house scene. He’s a multi-platinum artist with multiple world wide top 10 hits who has sold millions of records across every format and has over 50 million YouTube views. He’s HUGE, and he’s returning to Villa.

The lure of the one’s and two’s sucked him in before the Baltimore street life could, so he said farewell to his graff days, put down his spray can and commenced his career as a DJ and producer. His first hit, ‘Rise’ (as Soul Providers) went Gold in the UK. Seeing the heart of dance music was in Europe, he relocated there and started seriously developing that signature funky bass line.

The more hits he delivered, the higher up the charts they soared. ‘Say What You Want’, ‘Redlight’, ‘SOS’, ‘Shot Caller’, ‘Let Loose’ and the super popular smash hit ‘Get Shaky’ which won Best Dance Video at the Australian MTV Music Awards in 2009. Last year he dropped the track, ‘Last Night’ (featuring Snoop Dogg) as well as the album Vicious Cuts 2011 – a snaringly good compilation featuring tidy-as tracks from Deadmau5, Steve Aoki, Afrojack, Robyn and Armand Van Helden.

This is House to rock out to. Don’t miss this show.

Supported by: Wasteland, Ace Basik, Chiari

Roger Sanchez in da house!

That’s right the Brooklyn House legend was back and what an appearance he made Friday April 20th for his only Perth intimate show at Villa Nightclub and what a show it was!

After more than 20 years in the electronic world the ‘S’ Man still remains at the forefront of the house music game. The American house DJ and producer has done remixes for the likes of Daft Punk, Diana Ross and The Police and is the CEO and founder of Stealth Records so we all knew that we were in for a immense 2 hour musical journey!

Making his way into the club just before midnight, it felt as though it may shape up to be a small turn out early in the night, but it was almost as though it was timed just right for his grand entry, as Villa Nightclub was full to the brim with houseo lovers eager to hear the great man spin the classics as well as new material to there absolute pleasure.

As he made his way through the entrance of the club to the upstairs terrace screams were heard from all angles of the room as people were overwhelmed with excitement to know the legend himself had made it! Surrounded by a entourage of private security and staff the royalty was defiantly being shown as he had an exclusive path through the crowd to the booth!

Standing in the VIP section and watching him begin his set on a 4 CDJ deck setup we all knew we were truly in for something special!

Using just one USB stick to produce one of the most sensational house sets I’ve heard in a club in years it was remarkable to know that the future of DJing can now be controlled from a single device no bigger then an eraser!

Playing tracks like Calvin Harris – Feels so Close (Benny Benassi remix) and the smash hit classic Fedde Le Grande - So Much Love the club was feeling the magical ora of the sounds of the house meister!

Dressed in a black saturn vest, bucket hat and shades his cool vibe behind the decks was surly being felt through his set! Finishing the night with his #1 smash hit Another Chance to end the epic 120 minute house extravaganza the roar of the crowd defiantly proved that once again he was the king of house!

Ace Basik ended the night with some electro house bangers to keep the crowd on the floor and moving to the end as this was a night of all things house and of all things legendary as the S Man made sure that his return to our shores since his appearance 3 years ago at Summadayze was going to be just as big as his main room sets in IBIZA and beyond!

MAKIAH COPEMAN.
